Support the Work of Alessandra Belloni and I Giullari Di Piazza

A Special Invitation from Alessandra Belloni

Dear Friends:

Many of you know me as a percussionist, singer, healer and author.  I am also the artistic director/co-founder of I Giullari Di Piazza (the Players of the Square), the only Italian Folk Music, Theatre & Dance company in the United States, Artists in Residence at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine in New York City - a non-profit organization now celebrating our 40th anniversary.

I am proud to announce that during our last season our shows at Theater for the New City were sold out!  We premiered a new concert dedicated to the Black Madonna, based on my book, titled 'GOD IS A WOMAN & SHE IS BLACK- HEALING JOURNEYS WITH THE BLACK MADONNA.

To support this growing and evolving work and vision, my wonderful board of directors started a new fund raising committee, and thanks to their work and our generous friends, we raised $ 2,500 in a short time online last December… and Oscar winning actress Marisa Tomei took part in our annual benefit!  I am deeply grateful to you all!

But to keep this work funded, the need is ongoing; much of my work is funded by grants which are growing fewer and harder to win. And so I would like to share a special appeal from my Board inviting your support this year and into the future.

Grazie! Blessings!

From Our Board of Directors:

Dear supporters of Alessandra and i Giullari,

We are reaching out as a new group forming to help raise funds to support i Giullari di Piazza and its wonderful founder, Alessandra Belloni. We ask you to reach generously into your hearts to help us raise funds to complete the fiscal year ending June 30

Alessandra created this marvelous troupe of dancers, actors and musicians 40 years ago to bring the best of Southern Italian spiritual and folk performance art to New York. As an artist in residence company at the vast Cathedral of St. John the Divine, Alessandra and i Giullari have excited countless thousands who have come to know and love their music, dance and unique performances.

Every year, Alessandra and i Giullari have brought us ritual and folk performances tracing their origins back many hundreds of years, honoring magnificent folk traditions, such as the Tarantella Spider Dance, Tarantelle e Canti d’Amore, and the Christmas pageant La Cantata dei Pastori. She has also performed and developed sizeable followings in Italy, Brazil, Australia the West Coast and Hawaii.

As we now begin to create the Friends of Alessandra and i Giullari to give them much-needed new support amid a decline in grants, please help us to help them by donating what you can.

In the weeks to come, we’ll advise further about how you may join the Friends of Alessandra and I Giullari.

I Giullari di Piazza is a publicly supported organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. All donations are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law.

A copy of the organization’s latest annual report may be obtained upon request from the organization or from the New York State Attorney-General's Charities Bureau, 120 Broadway, 3rd floor, New York, NY 10271
