This intense retreat weekend is a journey through mind, body, and spirit that will unfold over two and a half days of gatherings, workshops, and performances. Through techniques of music and ecstatic dance therapy, we will work towards balance, inner confidence, and restoring our vital energies. We will also learn spiritual and mental techniques of psychic self-defense, which will aid in retaining and using our true inner power. Join us in our sacred space as we build a Women’s tribe of Spirit, learning from renowned experts in the field of rhythmic healing and female empowerment. Saturday 1pm -5pm: Rhythm Is The Cure Part 1 with Alessandra BelloniTambourine and Frame Drum Workshop: Alessandra teaches the Tammorriata-- a 4/4 rhythm in honor of the Black Madonna with African origins. Through this rhythm she teaches practical frame drum technique, together with movement and exercises for grounding and opening the heart chakra. Sunday 1pm-5pm: Rhythm is the Cure Part 2 with Alessandra BelloniRhythm Workshop: Alessandra will teach the variations of the basic 6/8 rhythm of the Tarantella, on tambourine and frame drum. Dance Workshop: THE PIZZICA TARANTATA or Spider Dance– This erotic and dynamic ritual dance from Southern Italy originated as a cure for the mythical bite of the Tarantula, a condition causing a mental disease called tarantismo, which afflicted mainly women. The wild 6/8 rhythm of the Pizzica, played on medium size tambourines, was performed as an exorcism ritual which produced a trance-like state beneficial for the healing of many disorders and imbalances. As part of a re-enactment of this healing ritual, Alessandra will lead the participants in a circle dance accompanied by her magic tambourine rhythm and singing.    Part of a weekend-long course, admission $150 for twelve hours of instruction from various teachers and other events.
