Outfitted with an extensive complement of exotic percussion instruments, tambourine virtuoso Alessandra Belloni and multi percussionist ROWAN STORM, both REMO Artists embark on a new collaboration celebrating and exploring the rhythmic similarities between southern an the Middle East, by blending Italian tamburello with the riqq, dumbeck, and frame drums and other percussion instruments. With music ancient and new, Alessandra and Rowancreate a bridge between ancient rituals and modern rhythms into a vibrant musical tapestry. Featuring Southern Italian & Middle Eastern ritual drumming, chants and trance dance, putting a new spin to original and traditional arrangements from the musical backgrounds. This new collaboration among such special artists evolved at REMO in Los Angeles as Alessandra and Rowan are both Remo artists and Remo being the meeting place of all rhythmic cultures. The haunting melodies and trance rhythms of Southern Italy, mainly connected to the rituals in Honor of the Black Madonna and the trance dance of purification known as tarantella that have ancient roots in Africa will blend with north African frame drum styles and the Dumbeck, played by Rowan Storm.
