Departure is on Tuesday April 23rd. Good Friday is April 19th and Easter April 21st Easter Monday, our Pasquetta, is on April 22rd and it's a big feast there. The Workshops will include: April 16th:Afternoon Tamburello workshop with Alessandra, Vittorio de Paola, and Gabriele Pappaletto, featuring authentic Calabrese tarantelle folk dances, and folk music. An explanation of this history and traditions with Vittorio de Paola, who is also my mentor. April 17: (After morning visit in Trope and Spilinga) History talk and instrument making, including the rare lira calabrese and chitarra battente. Ancient Greek Myths and legends presented by ethnomusicologist and anthropologist musician Francesco Braccio and his son Peppe. April 18 (Afternoon)Workshop on the female style of Tarantella Calabrese dancing with Anna Maria Pugliese. We will probably have as special lecture on the ancient Calabrese Folk Traditions with her father, writer and professor, Franco Pugliese. The workshops will take place partly at the resort, and also at the amazing castle known as Castello di Caria, where I received my award this in the summer of 2018. Tour Itinerary includes:April 15: A first day visit to the beautiful church on the beach, excavated in the Tufo rock, right there in Pizzo Calabro.
April 17: Visit to the healing waters and Madonna delle Acque, in the magical grotto of Spilinga, amd Tropea Black Madonna di Romania.
April 19th and 21st: The powerful Good Friday & Easter Processions, and tradition in VIBO VALENTIA known as L'AFFRUNTATA. April 20: Drumming Procession in Caulonia for Holy Saturday. Dates to be determined/flexible: -Visit to Museum in Reggio Calabria to see the famous Greek statues of the splendid I Bronzi di Riace. And on the way back, stopping in Seminara to see the Madonna Nera dei Poveri. There are also many musical parties at night with my friends, and wonderful musicians, it will be powerful and a total blast of good energy. This tour open to 10 people. Tour will sell out fast.
